Greetings, Namaskaar From

Go Wild Expedition: Your Local Travel Agent in Sikkim

We're Go Wild Expedition, a travel company based in Yuksom, West Sikkim. We organise private holidays, guided Himalayan treks, family tours, and cultural trips across Sikkim and Darjeeling. We also help travellers plan journeys in Nepal.

As a local travel agent in Sikkim, we help you plan around the places you want to visit, the time you have, and the kind of journey you enjoy. Some guests come for a relaxing holiday with family. Others want to explore remote villages, spend time in Buddhist monasteries, or walk high into the mountains.

Our work covers both. We look after the arrangements that bring a trip together, from choosing a suitable route to organising transport, accommodation, guides, and other travel services.

Our Roots

Our Home Is in Yuksom, West Sikkim

Yuksom is a historic village in the Gyalshing district of Sikkim. It is also the starting point for some of the region's best-known Himalayan trekking routes.

“For us, it is home.”

Being based here gives us a close connection to the mountains, villages, people, and travel conditions of West Sikkim. We understand how different the experience can be between a quiet stay in Pelling, a family tour through Gangtok, and several days of trekking towards Kanchenjunga.

That local connection shapes our work. We want visitors to see more of Sikkim, but we also want them to have enough time to enjoy the places they have travelled so far to reach.

Leadership on the Trail

Meet DB Khewa, the Founder of Go Wild Expedition

Go Wild Expedition was founded by DB Khewa, a Sikkimese tourism professional with 11 years of experience in the travel industry and a bachelor's degree in tourism.

His experience is not limited to planning journeys from an office. He has personally walked many of Sikkim's high-altitude trekking routes, including the trails leading towards Dzongri and Goecha La, and has organised trips through the region for years.

That experience matters when someone asks about a demanding climb, the conditions at a high camp, or the time needed to complete a route.

His academic background in tourism also supports the other side of the business: planning itineraries, understanding guest needs, coordinating services, and managing the many details involved in a holiday.

Today, he remains the central person behind Go Wild Expedition's travel planning and operations. His role is to bring his knowledge of the region and the tourism industry into the journeys the company organises.

What We Do

Go Wild Expedition provides a range of travel services. Although Sikkim is our home and main area of expertise, our work extends to neighbouring destinations and selected journeys elsewhere in the Himalayas.

Sikkim Package Tours and Private Holidays

Our Sikkim package tours cover popular destinations such as Gangtok, Pelling, Ravangla, Namchi, Lachung, and the East Sikkim Silk Route.

We arrange family holidays, honeymoon packages, private sightseeing tours, cultural visits, and premium holidays with comfortable accommodation and vehicles.

You can explore Sikkim's monasteries, lakes, mountain villages, and heritage sites at a pace that suits you. A family travelling with children may prefer shorter drives and more time at each destination. A couple may want quiet stays with mountain views. Some visitors are interested in photography, local culture, or a few days away from busy cities. We help turn those interests into a practical travel plan.

Our services also cover Darjeeling and nearby areas, making it possible to combine the hills of West Bengal with a Sikkim holiday.

Himalayan Trekking and Mountain Expeditions

Trekking in Sikkim remains one of our main areas of expertise.

We organise guided journeys along established routes, including the Goechala Trek, Dzongri Trek, and the Singalila region.

These routes pass through dense forests, high meadows, mountain camps, and landscapes that change considerably with altitude. A trek requires more preparation than arranging a vehicle and a hotel.

Our trekking services cover route planning, local guides, cooks, porters, camping equipment, meals, transport, and the required travel documentation, according to the package. We also discuss fitness, route difficulty, acclimatisation, and the facilities available along the trail. Our aim is to help you choose a trek that suits your experience and preparation.

Nepal Trekking and Travel

Our travel services extend beyond Sikkim and Darjeeling to Nepal.

For travellers interested in Nepal, we can help coordinate journeys such as the Annapurna Trek and other Himalayan travel programmes.

These trips are arranged with destination-based travel professionals and service providers familiar with their respective regions.

Our role is to help bring together the itinerary, transport, accommodation, guiding arrangements, and travel requirements for the journey you want to take.

Transport, Accommodation, and Travel Assistance

Not every traveller needs a complete holiday package. Sometimes you already know where you want to go and need help arranging the services.

We assist with private tourist vehicles, hill transfers, hotel and homestay bookings, sightseeing arrangements, and airport or railway station pickups.

Our travel services also include domestic and international flight booking assistance, train reservations, and support with the permits and documentation required for eligible destinations.

You can contact us for a complete holiday or for specific travel arrangements.

Why Choose a Local Travel Agent in Sikkim?

A travel itinerary should work on the road, not only look attractive on paper.

Real Mountain Conditions in North Sikkim

Take North Sikkim, for example. A visit to Lachung involves hours of driving through mountain terrain. Road repairs, rainfall, snowfall, or changes in access can affect the journey. The weather in Gangtok may be pleasant while conditions at higher elevations are entirely different.

The same applies to planning a trip that combines several destinations. Gangtok, Pelling, and North Sikkim may all be worth visiting, but trying to cover everything in too few days can leave you spending much of your holiday inside a vehicle.

This is where local knowledge becomes useful. We can help you understand which destinations fit comfortably into your schedule, which seasons suit your plans, and where an extra day may make a difference.

Sometimes our advice may be to spend longer in one place rather than add another destination. The purpose is to make better use of your holiday, not simply fill an itinerary with names.

Trail Professionals

Experienced Local Guides and Travel Professionals

The people accompanying you can make a significant difference to your journey. For trekking expeditions, we work with experienced local guides, cooks, porters, and mountain support personnel familiar with the routes and conditions of the region.

A knowledgeable trekking guide helps guests understand the trail, maintain a suitable pace, and recognise when conditions call for greater care. Cooks and support staff look after meals, camp arrangements, and the practical needs of a multi-day trek.

Our road tours also depend on experienced hill drivers and local accommodation providers who understand the places in which they work.

Bringing these people into a well-organised trip is an important part of our responsibility as a travel company. It also creates opportunities for local workers and businesses to take part in tourism.

  • Pacing & Acclimatisation: Guides trained to recognise changes in altitude and trail health.
  • Nutritious Mountain Meals: Dedicated camp cooks preparing wholesome food at high camps.
  • Community Stewardship: Providing fair livelihoods for Sikkimese drivers, porters, and homestay families.

How We Plan Your Journey

01

Understanding What You Need

Every enquiry begins with understanding what you need. We ask about your travel dates, the number of people travelling, your preferred destinations, accommodation expectations, and budget. If you are interested in trekking, we also discuss your walking experience and the demands of the route.

02

Custom Itinerary and Quotation

Once we understand your plans, we can prepare or adapt an itinerary and provide a quotation. We believe you should know what you are paying for before confirming a booking. The proposed arrangements should make clear which services are included, what costs extra, and which activities depend on permits, weather, or availability.

03

Permits and Travel Documentation

Sikkim has protected areas where travel permits are required. Rules differ according to nationality and destination, so we assist visitors with the relevant requirements and application procedures.

04

Road-Tested Flexibility

We also understand that travel plans sometimes need adjustments. Mountain roads, changing weather, and local restrictions do not always follow a fixed schedule. We take these practical conditions into account when organising trips. Our booking terms explain how confirmations, payments, and cancellations are handled.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many days are enough for a Sikkim tour?

Five to seven days can work well for a holiday covering Gangtok and Pelling or another two-region combination. If you want to include North Sikkim, Darjeeling, or more time in West Sikkim, allow additional days. The right duration depends on the destinations, road conditions, and pace you prefer.

What is the best time to visit Sikkim?

March to May and October to November are good periods for many Sikkim holidays. Spring brings flowering rhododendrons in several mountain areas, while autumn often offers clearer views. Winter is also popular for travellers interested in cold weather and snow, although access to some high-altitude destinations may be restricted. The ideal month depends on your itinerary.

Where should I arrive for a Sikkim holiday?

Bagdogra Airport in West Bengal and New Jalpaiguri Railway Station are the main arrival points used by many visitors travelling to Sikkim. We can help arrange onward road transport to Gangtok, Pelling, Yuksom, or other destinations. Transfer charges depend on the package and your chosen pickup location.

Do Indian and foreign tourists need permits in Sikkim?

Indian citizens generally do not need a permit for ordinary entry into Sikkim, but certain protected destinations require additional permission. Foreign nationals generally need a Restricted Area Permit to enter Sikkim and may require a Protected Area Permit for eligible destinations or trekking routes. Some areas are not open to foreign visitors. You can check the latest requirements through the Government of Sikkim Tourism Department.

How do I choose the best travel agent in Sikkim?

Start by checking whether the operator has a real business address, tourism registration details, local experience, and clear booking terms. Ask for a written itinerary and quotation. Check what is included, which expenses are separate, and who will coordinate your trip. A good travel company should be willing to answer those questions before you make a payment.
