About This Travel Disclaimer
This Travel Disclaimer applies to trips arranged by Go Wild Expedition.
It covers Indian and foreign guests. It applies to high-altitude treks, low-altitude treks, road tours, family holidays, honeymoon trips, and package tours.
In this page, “we”, “us”, and “our” mean Go Wild Expedition. “You” means the person who joins or plans to join a trip.
Travel comes with some risk. This page explains those risks and your role as a guest.
It does not set our booking, payment, refund, or cancellation rules. Those matters are covered by separate terms and policies.
Travel Cannot Be Free From Risk
We plan our trips with care. We also take reasonable steps to keep our guests safe.
Even so, no trip can be free from risk.
Weather can change with little warning. Roads can close. Rain, snow, landslides, traffic, road damage, local orders, or other events can affect a journey.
A trek has added risks. Trails may be steep, wet, icy, rocky, or loose. The weather may be cold or harsh. High altitude may also affect the body.
You need to understand these risks before you travel.
We cannot promise that every part of a trip will be safe, easy, or free from delay.
Your Health and Fitness
You are responsible for checking your own health before you travel.
This is very important if you plan to join a high-altitude trek.
Before such a trek, you must make sure that you are fit and in sound health. You should speak with a doctor and get proper medical clearance for the trek.
Do not join a trek if a doctor has advised you not to take part.
You must also tell us about any health issue that may affect your safety on the trip. This should be done before the trip starts.
Go Wild Expedition does not give medical advice. Our guides are not a substitute for a doctor.
Being fit at home also does not mean that you will be free from illness at high altitude.
The Guide Can Turn a Trekker Back
Our guide has a duty to watch the safety of the group.
A guide may stop you from going farther if signs of poor health appear on the trail.
This may include signs of altitude illness, severe weakness, injury, breathing trouble, loss of balance, confusion, or any other sign that causes concern.
The guide may ask you to rest. The guide may also ask you to go back, move to a lower place, or seek medical help.
This decision may be made even if you feel that you can keep going.
The guide may also stop you from going on if your actions could put you, the staff, or other guests at risk.
A safety decision made on the trail must be followed.
Injury, Illness, Accident, and Loss
Travel and trekking can cause injury, illness, accident, loss, and, in rare cases, death.
By choosing to take part, you accept the normal risks linked with the type of trip you have chosen.
Go Wild Expedition is not responsible for injury, illness, loss, accident, or death that results from the normal risks of travel or trekking, your own acts, your health, your failure to follow safety advice, or events outside our reasonable control.
We will still take reasonable care while providing our own services.
Nothing in this Travel Disclaimer removes a right or duty that cannot be removed by law.
Changes During a Trip
A trip may not always run exactly as first planned.
Weather can change. A road may close. A landslide may block a route. Heavy snow may make a trail unsafe. A local authority may place a new limit on travel.
There may also be strikes, permit issues, transport delays, local events, or other problems that we cannot control.
When needed, we may change a route, time, vehicle, hotel, camp, activity, or part of the plan.
We may also shorten, delay, move, or stop part of a trip if it is not safe or practical to continue as planned.
A guide or trip leader may make such a change while the trip is in progress.
Safety and local conditions will guide that choice.
Any payment, refund, or cancellation issue caused by such a change will be dealt with under the policy that applies to your booking.
Roads and Travel Times
Road travel in Sikkim and other hill areas can be hard to predict.
A journey may take longer than planned due to rain, fog, traffic, road work, landslides, road damage, local checks, or a blocked road.
Vehicle trouble or other transport delays may also occur.
Unless we clearly state otherwise, travel and arrival times should be treated as estimates.
We may use another safe route if the planned road cannot be used.
Hotels and Other Service Providers
Some parts of a trip may be provided by another person or business.
This may include a hotel, driver, transport firm, local guide, airline, or other service provider.
These providers may work as separate businesses. They are not always employees of Go Wild Expedition.
We may choose, arrange, or book their services as part of your trip. We do not control every act or decision made by an outside provider.
We are not responsible for a delay, act, fault, or failure by an outside provider where the matter is outside our control.
If a problem occurs during your trip, we will make reasonable efforts to help.
Travel Insurance
Go Wild Expedition does not provide travel insurance.
You should arrange your own cover before you travel.
This is very important for trekking and high-altitude travel.
Your policy should suit the trip you plan to take. If you are trekking, check the height and type of trek covered by the policy.
Where possible, your cover should include medical care, rescue, evacuation, trip delay or interruption, and loss of personal goods.
Do not assume that a normal travel policy covers high-altitude trekking.
It is your duty to read the policy and check what it covers.
Rescue and Emergency Help
If you become ill or hurt during a trip, our team will make reasonable efforts to help.
This may include calling for help, helping with a rescue, arranging local support, or helping you reach medical care.
The type and speed of help will depend on the place and the facts at that time.
In a remote area, help may take time. Bad weather, road blocks, poor phone links, distance, or lack of local transport may also cause delay.
We cannot promise that rescue or medical help will always be immediate.
Go Wild Expedition does not provide insurance for rescue or medical costs.
You are responsible for the cost of rescue, evacuation, hospital care, medical care, extra transport, and other emergency needs unless your insurance covers the cost or we have agreed in writing to pay it.
Permits and Personal Documents
Some trips may need a permit or other approval.
Go Wild Expedition may help with such permits when this forms part of our service.
You must give us true and correct details when they are needed for that work.
You are responsible for having the personal papers needed for your trip. These may include a valid passport, visa, identity paper, medical paper, or other required document.
A public office or other authority may approve, reject, delay, or change a permit.
Such a decision is outside our control.
Your Personal Belongings
You are responsible for your own belongings during the trip.
This includes cash, phones, cameras, bags, travel papers, jewellery, and other personal items.
Take proper care of them in vehicles, hotels, camps, public places, and on the trail.
We are not responsible for loss, theft, or damage caused by your own carelessness or by an event outside our reasonable control.
This does not remove any duty placed on us by law.
Photos and What You See on a Trip
Photos on our website or other pages show a place at a certain time.
Nature does not stay the same.
Snow can melt. Flowers may not be in bloom. A river can rise or fall. A mountain can be hidden by cloud.
Wildlife may not appear at all.
Weather, roads, camps, hotels, views, and local places may also look different when you visit.
A photo is therefore not a promise that you will see the same view or the same conditions during your trip.
Follow Safety Advice
You must follow fair safety advice given by our guides, drivers, trip leaders, or other staff in charge.
Do not leave a group without telling the guide.
Do not take another route after being told that it is unsafe.
Do not ignore a warning about weather, altitude, road safety, local rules, or your health.
If you choose to ignore clear safety advice, you accept the added risk caused by that choice.
Events Outside Our Control
Some events cannot be stopped or controlled by Go Wild Expedition.
They may include severe weather, floods, landslides, fire, heavy snow, road closure, strikes, public unrest, government action, local limits, transport failure, or a major health emergency.
Other rare events may also make a trip unsafe or impossible to run as planned.
If this happens, we may need to change, delay, shorten, move, or stop part of the trip.
We will take reasonable steps based on the facts at that time.
Any refund, credit, cancellation, or payment issue will be handled under the separate rules that apply to the booking.
Your Choice to Travel
Please read the details of your chosen trip before you join.
Ask us if something is not clear.
Make sure the trip suits your health, fitness, needs, and level of experience.
A guest who chooses a trek or tour also accepts the normal risks that come with that type of travel.
Go Wild Expedition will provide reasonable help and care within the service we have agreed to provide.
We cannot promise a trip with no risk, no delay, or no change.
