The trail gradually ascends through dense sub-tropical forests of pine, oak, and ferns. You will cross a few hanging bridges and walk beside the Rathong River. Sachen is a small forest clearing where you camp for the night amidst nature.

Begin your uphill journey from Sachen, crossing the Prek Chu River on a sturdy bridge. The trek trail passes through dense forests before reaching Bakhim, a scenic rest point known for its panoramic mountain views and diverse flora including rhododendrons and magnolias.

From Bakhim, the trail continues with moderate ascents through switchbacks before easing into a gradual climb toward Tshoka.

Tshoka (2,960 m) is now a designated camping site rather than a traditional settlement. The area features government and private trekkers' huts along with well-maintained camping grounds. A small monastery adds to the serene atmosphere, while a basic stall run by the campsite caretaker provides essential supplies.

The location offers stunning views of Mount Pandim, making it an ideal spot for sunset and sunrise photography. Overnight accommodation includes trekkers' huts or camping under the stars.

Trek Duration: 5 to 6 hours | Distance: 9 km

This challenging day begins with a steady ascent through dense rhododendron forests that burst into colour during the blooming season. The trail takes you above Tshoka to reach Phedang (3,690 m), a beautiful alpine meadow that serves as an ideal rest stop. Here, you'll find a local stall serving hot momos - a perfect treat to refuel for the climb ahead.

From Phedang, the trail becomes steeper as you climb toward Dzongri. The final stretch tests your endurance, but the reward is spectacular. Dzongri sits at 4,030 meters in vast meadows. It gives you one of the most breathtaking panoramic views in the Himalayas.

Dzongri offers fantastic views of the Kanchenjunga range and Mt. Pandim. This high-altitude pasture provides an unobstructed 360-degree view of towering peaks. It makes a photographer's paradise and a top sunrise and sunset viewing spot.

Overnight accommodation includes trekkers' huts or camping under the star-filled sky in this magnificent alpine setting.

Altitude: 4,030 m

This crucial day is reserved for acclimatization to prevent altitude sickness. Your body needs time to adjust to the reduced oxygen levels at this elevation.

Early Morning: Begin with an hour-long hike to Dzongri Top (4,200 m) for spectacular sunrise views. From this vantage point, you'll witness a 180-degree panoramic view of the mighty peaks including Kakthong, Rothang, Kabru South, Kabru North, Kabru Dome, Kanchenjunga range, Pandim, and the Lama Lamini peaks.

Day Activity: Take a moderate trek to Dzongrila Pass (4,417 m) with packed lunch. This climb takes about an hour uphill from Dzongri camp, offering great views of the summits Rathong, Frey and Kabru peaks. The pass provides stunning views of clustered peaks of Frey, Kokthang (20,160 ft), Rathong and Kabru sisters with the pristine Rathong valley as backdrop.

Explore the alpine surroundings at a slow, steady pace to help your body adapt while enjoying the magnificent Himalayan panorama. Return to base camp for overnight rest.

The trail descends to Kokchurung and then ascends gently through alpine meadows to Thansing, a serene campsite situated beside the Prek Chu River.

• Distance: 4 km

A short trek through meadows leads to Lamuney, the final campsite before the summit push. The rest of the day is for rest and preparation for the early morning ascent to Goechala Viewpoint 1. You can hike up to Samiti Lake. You will Pass through the same lake in the morning. And You will have some time to spend when you return. However, You can take an acclimatisation walk when you camp at Lamuney.

The Summit Day! Begin your trek well before dawn (around 3:00 AM) with headlamps to reach Goechala Viewpoint 1 for the spectacular sunrise. This is the most challenging and rewarding day of your entire trek.

Goechala Viewpoint 1 Details:

• Altitude: 4,940 m (16,207 ft)
• Views: Southeast face of Kanchenjunga, the world's third highest mountain, along with Pandim, Rathong, Goecha, Japuno and Kabru peaks
• Special Feature: Trekkers are not allowed to the actual Goecha Pass, but View Point 1 offers incredible panoramic views

Trail Highlights: The climb from Lamuney involves steep ascents through rocky terrain. Pass through Samiti Lake, which has challenging slopes, before reaching the viewpoint. Witness Kanchenjunga glowing beautifully in golden hues at sunrise.

After spending time at the viewpoint capturing the magnificent 180-degree Himalayan panorama, descend back to Lamuney for breakfast. Continue the long descent to Thansing for overnight rest, completing this epic summit day.

The Long Descent Begins! Today marks the start of losing altitude as you begin the largely downhill journey back toward civilization.

Route Details: Instead of retracing your steps through Dzongri, you'll take a more direct route that bypasses Dzongri by following the trail to the left from Thansing. This alternative path offers a fresh perspective of the landscape you traversed during ascent.

• Thansing to Kokchurung: Begin with a gradual descent through alpine meadows, following the Prek Chu River
• Kokchurung (3,688 m): A peaceful forest campsite known for its beautiful surroundings and soothing river sounds
• Kokchurung to Phedang: Continue through dense rhododendron forests for approximately 4 hours on relatively flat terrain
• Phedang (3,690 m): Your familiar rest stop with the momo stall for a well-deserved break
• Phedang to Tshoka: The final 6 km descent through pristine rhododendron forests

Wildlife Watch: Keep an eye out for Himalayan Monals and various bird species during the descent. The untouched forest feels like walking on another planet similar to Earth.

Trail Caution: Some sections involve difficult descents, so maintain a slow, steady pace. Expect to reach Tshoka by late afternoon after this long but rewarding day.

The final day involves a steady descent back to Yuksom through lush forests and over suspension bridges. Upon arrival, celebrate the completion of the trek and rest in the comfort of a homestay or hotels.
